What is Fade In and Fade Out?
If we go with Scriptwriting technique then this is the first thing we write "FADE IN", it means your image or Video will appear slowly. From darkness to brightness, It mostly happens at the beginning of to film, remember I said "mostly" not every time.
Now lets come to FADE OUT, Fade out mostly used at the end of the film. it is just the opposite of fade-in, it means your visuals will disappear slowly to darkness or we can say black screen.
What is Dissolve?
Unlike fade in and fade out, dissolve used in between of the film where two images are superimposed with each other, where one footage loses its opacity and at the same time next placed footage gains it's opacity. It also establishes a relationship between the two images.
How to Use Fade In, Fade Out and Dissolve on Editing Table?
In every software you will find some plugin with the name "Dip to Black" in Premier Pro or "Fade to colour" in final Cut Pro, you just have to pick it and drop it on your clip. Or you can just create an opacity keyframe and adjust its value.
For achieving Dissolve also keyframe of opacity will be used, we just have to place one footage above to the others one or you can use inbuilt transition "Cross Dissolve" for the same result.
Why Use Use Fade In, Fade Out and Dissolve on Editing Table?
We use fade in, fade out and dissolve for various reasons, like; passing of time, changing scenes, for differentiating or building a relationship between time and space, sometimes we use it to create some effects, flashback etc.
